    Abstract

    The purpose of this research is to examine the influence of compensation to performance with work motivation as moderating variable. The first hypothesis examines whether compensation influences performance. The second hypothesis examines whether work motivation is the moderating variable in the relationship between compensation and performance. The populations in this research are officers of Service and Supervising Customs and Excise Office Type Madya in the Region of Central Java and Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. This research uses purposive sampling technique to collect samples. Data were collected using a survey method and then analyzed by using simple linier regression. The results of hypothesis test shows that compensation has a positive and significant influence to performance. Another result of this research shows that work motivation is not moderating variable in the relationship between compensation and performance. Work motivation is independent variable (predictor) in relation to performance. Key words : Compensation, Performance, Work Motivation, Moderating Variable
