    Abstract

    Casmito, NIM: S820907002. Learning Process on the Population and Environmental Education at Elementary School on SD Negeri, Kesesi Subdistrict of Pekalongan Regency 2008 Year. Thesis Surakarta : Study Program of Population and Environmental Education. Post Graduate Program of Sebelas Maret University Surakarta, June 2008. The aims of the research were to understand and predict: (1) Curriculum of Population and Environmental Education at the Elementary School, (2) Effort of developing the Population and Environmental Science Education at the elementary school, (3) Learning process of the Population and Environmental Science Education at the Elementary School, and (4) Obstacles to the learning process of the Population and Environmental Science Education at the Elementary School. In accordance to it’s objectives, the research employ qualitative descriptive method with embedded case study. The sample of this research are specified amount of in formants that provide explanations. The techniques of collecting date used are questioner, in depth interviewing, direct observation and document. The technique used is purposive sampling. The validity of date use date triangulation, methodological trianggulation, the technique of analysis collecting date use interactive analysis. The result of the research that (1) the learning process of the Population and Environmental Science Education Conducted at the elementary school in Kesesi sub-district use the perfected 1994 curriculum, in which the learning process in not conducted separately but is integrated with the subject matters of Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, and Religion, (2) the development of the learning process of the Population and Environmental Science education is based on the model of SEQIP approach, (3) the obstacles to the learning process of the Population and Environmental Science Education, are: (2) (a) the learning resources are limited, (b) the teachers are less active to the learning process, (c) the socialization of the learning process of the Population and Environmental Science Education is little, (d) the teachers are less active to motivate the student to study the subject matter of the Population and Environmental Science Education at home, and (e) there are not visible guidelines on the implementation of the integration of the subject matter to other subject matters, (4) the efforts to deal with the existing obstacles are: (a) conducting cooperation with family and community in socializing the Population and Environmental Science Education, (b) enhance the student' insights by natural study tour, (c) holding cooperation with related parties, (d) involving the teachers in training related to the learning process of the Population and Environmental Science Education, and (e) the subject of the Population
