    Abstract

    The research was conducted to evaluate the effect of ricebran steamed and methionine hydroxy analogue supplementation in feed to nitrogen balance and Protein Efficiency Ratio(PER)of male local sheep. It was done in 14 week from Agustus 11 st until November 22 nd 2010 in Department of Animal Science of Agriculture Faculty of Sebelas Maret University located in Jatikuwung, Gondangrejo,Karanganyar. Twelve (12) local male sheepsage 6 months with the average weight about 10± 1,08kg were used in this research. The research used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) one way classification, with three treatments and four replications with each replication consistedof one local male sheep. The feed consistedof king grass and ricebran with comparison 60:40 ratio (% dry matter basis). The parameters were consumption, averagedaily body weight, protein consumption, PERand nitrogen balance. Data of dry matter consumption, protein consumption, PERand nitrogen balance were analyzedwith analysisof variance, and averagedaily body weight analyzed with analysisof covariance. This research showed that average dry matter consumption for P0, P1 and P2 were 1283.60;1137.86 and 1136.06 (g/head/day),protein consumption were 233.48; 206.97; 206.33 g/head/day,PER were 0.13; 0.21; 0.25, nitrogen balance were 29.09; 29.03; 29.61 g/head/day. While average daily body weight were 30.07; 42.23; 52.36 g/head/day. The result showed thatondry matter consumption,protein consumptionand nitrogen balance werenot significantly different, and it gave significant effect on PER. It can be concluded that ricebran steamed and methionine hydroxy analogue supplementation in feed, did not influence nitrogen balance, but had influence toward PER.
