    Abstract

    Objectives : Progress of civilization have shifted growth of industry up at usage machinery vehicles and heavy transportation appliances. Exploiting of technology to fulfill requirement of the human is complex progressively, actually generate various environmental problem. One of the problem in generating is air pollution effect of gas emission throw away the motor vehicle. The aim of this research is to find out if there any effect of air pollution to traffic policemen in Surakarta Method : This was observational analytic research with cross sectional approach. Sample of this research is laboring traffic police in Satuan Lalu Lintas Kepolisian Kota big Surakarta counted 41 people with detail counted 25 working in field and 16 working in the office. Their lung fungtion measured by auto spirometer from Pramita Laboratory and HIPERKES. Examination of Spirometry done in office of traffic police unit and in police post spread over traffic through the street of Slamet Riyadi Solo. Lung Function measured by spirometer and for reference is % FVC to know Lung Function. The air Pollution measured in 2 point that is in Gladak Circle at street Slamet Riyadi and crossroads of Panti Waluyo Hospital. Measurement of air pollution done around 10.00 am up to 14.00 pm. Air pollution parameter : NO2, SO2, NH3, TSP, O3, H2S dan Pb were measured by MIPA central Laboratory. Results : Auto spirometer Measurement result showed from 41 people of 23 people have % FVC < 80 % and 18 people have % FVC ≥ 80%. From the 23 people 18 people are laboring traffic police in field and 5 people work in office. In another way from 18 the people have the value % FVC ≥ 80 % 7 people work in field and 11 people work in office. The statistical calculation result got that with Interval trust of 95% got odds ratio 5,65 and confidence interval between1,43- 22,28 and with Uji X2 got P value = 0,01 < α = 0,05 where that means there is significance the influence of air pollution to lung function of traffic police in Surakarta. Conclusion : According to this research, we concluded that there is influence of Air pollution to the lung function of traffic police in Surakarta.
