    Abstract

    The objective of research is to find out the effect of children fairy tale VCD on the capability of story scrutinizing competency in the learning disabled 4th grader in SDN Petoran Surakarta in the school year of 2010/2011. The independent variable was Children Fairy Tale VCD, while the dependent one was story scrutinizing competency. This research employed an experimental method with One group pre-test and post-test design, in which a group of subject was treated for a certain period of time, and the effect of treatment was measured from the difference of pretest and posttest. The population was the learning disabled 4th grader in SDN Petoran Surakarta in the school year of 2010/2011, consisting of 7 students. Try out was carried out to the 4a grader in SDN Petoran Surakarta in the school year of 2010/2011 outside the sample, indication that 30 items of question were valid and all valid questions were reliable. Technique of collecting data used was multiple- choice objective test. Technique of analyzing data used was non-parametrical statistic, namely Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test with SPSS release 15 help. The result of this research can be concluded that the use of Children Fairy Tale VCD media affects the improvement of story scrutinizing competency in learning disabled 4th grader in SDN Petoran Surakarta in the school year of 2010/2011.
