Movira Wuryanti Wardhani, S520906013, The Relationship Between Occupational Nutrition and Productivity among Female Workers at Batik Industry. A Thesis for the Master Program in Family Medicine, Postgraduate Program, Universitas Sebelas Maret, Surakarta, 2008. A number of industries have grown in Sragen district. Generally income of industrial workers is low. The low income may cause nutritional deficiency anemia, thereby decrease productivity. This study aimed to determine the relationship between the administration of occupational food supplement and productivity among female workers at batik industry. This study was a one group pretest and posttest experiment. The study was carried out in a batik industry, in Masaran subdistrict, Sragen, from October to December 2007. A sample of 40 female workers was taken for study. The dependent variable was productivity as indicated by time required to accomplish a task. The independent variable was a nutritional intervention taking the form of food supplement. The data was analyzed by t test and linear regression, using SPSS v.15 and Stata Intercooled v.7 programs. Result of the t test showed, mean of time required to accomplish a task after nutritional intervention was shorter than that before the intervention (mean 4.64; t = 4.99; p = 0.000). Linear regression analysis showed, each second to accomplish a unit of task before intervention led to 0.85 second accomplishment after the intervention, after controlling for the effects of age, years of employment, and education level (ß = 0.85; p < 0.001). This study concludes, occupational nutritional intervention is associated with productivity. The administration of occupational nutritional intervention increases productivity by shortening the time required for the accomplishment of task. It is recommended that firms implement occupational nutritional intervention for their workers. Key words: occupational nutrition, productivity, female workers, batik.
