This research aims to find out: (1) whether mathematics of student using metaphor is better than those trained without using metaphor on the main material of mathematics logic, (2) whether the achievement of student who have high learning motivation is better than those who have modest or low learning motivation, and those who have modest learning motivation better than those who have low learning motivation on the main material of mathematics logic, (3) whether the difference of learning achievement of each learning technics is consistent on each learning motivation category and whether different achievement of each learning motivation category is consistent on learning technics. This research is a quasi experimental research by 2 x 3 factorial design. The population of this research is all students of class X of SMA Negeri Surakarta in the second semester of 2008 / 2009 academic year. The sample of this research involves experimental group (using metaphor) consisting of 40 students of SMA Negeri 1 Surakarta, 38 students of SMA Negeri 2 Surakarta and 37 students of SMA Negeri 8 Surakarta. So, there are 115 students for the experimental group. Meanwhile, the control group (without using metaphor) consists of 40 students of SMA Negeri 1 Surakarta, 38 students of SMA Negeri 2 Surakarta and 37 students of SMA Negeri 8 Surakarta. So, there ere 115 students for the control group. Thus, the total sample of research is 230 students obtained by using stratified cluster random sampling. The data are collected by using documentation, questionnaire, and test method. Documentation method of mathematics achievement of UUB in the first semester is used for matching test, questionnaire is used to measure mathematics learning motivation, and test method is used to collect the data of mathematics learning achievement. Data analysis is carried out by using two ways variance analysis of different cell and double comparison test of Scheffe method. Based on the result of research it can be concluded that: (1) mathematics learning achievement on the main material mathematics logic using metaphor is better than without using metaphor, ( 2) there is an influence of student learning motivation to mathematic learning achievement on the main material mathematics logic in class X the second semester in 2008 / 2009 academic year. Mathematics learning achievement of student who have high learning motivation is better than those who have modest learning motivation, those who have high learning motivation is better than those who have low learning motivation, and those whohave modest is better than those who have low learning motivation, (3) the learning achievement from each learning technics is constant to each learning motivation category, and student’s mathematics achivement of each learning motivation category is constant to each learning technics.
