In the title presented above, it can be seen the main problem, namely how the Surakarta Branch of AJB BUMIPUTERA company applies the marketing mix strategy consisting of product, price, promotion, distribution, personal, tangible, and the process in undertaking its business to improve their sale volume, so that the objective of this apprenticeship report writing is to find out the application of the marketing mix strategy consisting of product, price, promotion, distribution, personal, tangible, and the process in undertaking business in Surakarta Branch of AJB BUMIPUTERA company. In this current research, the research schedule was initiated from the research proposal writing to the research report writing, in January 2011. This research was carried out in AJB BUMIPUTERA Insurance Company located in Slamet Riyadi No. 12 Surakarta, using a descriptive method by presenting and displaying data in long, systematic elaboration in the form of report. Methods of collecting data used were direct interview, observation on the company literature to support the data requirement. The data used was secondary data, that is, the one obtained to be used as theoretical foundation for analyzing data. The products obtained in AJB BUMIPUTERA include: Mitra Pelangi, Eka Waktu Ideal, Mitra Beasiswa Berencana, Mitra Permata, Mitra Melati, Mitra Abadi, Mitra Sehat, Mitra Cerdas, Mitra Prima, Mitra Oetama, Mitra Poesaka. The price in AJB BUMIPUTERA is premium price. Meanwhile the price for each product depends on premium payment and facility given by each product of BUMIPUTERA insurance. The distribution used by AJB BUMIPUTERA is direct distribution usually from the company, the agent or supervisor (unit manager) visits the prospective customer to be prospected. Advertising promotion and personal selling is the effective way to introduce those products to the society and in order to be recognizable. The media used include: direct mail (catalogue, brochure), internet, and newspaper. The employee as service provider highly affects the service quality in offering product to the prospective customer. Physical environment and facility is provided by AJB BUMIPUTERA.
