    Abstract

    Abstract: This research aims to improve the quality of process and of descriptive writing result in Indonesian language learning in the V graders of SD N II Geneng, Tirtomoyo subdistrict, Wonogiri regency by applying field trip method. This study was a classroom action research. The subject of research was 15 V graders of SD N II Geneng. The data sources used were place, informant and document. Techniques of collecting data used were observation, interview, and document analysis. The data validation was done using data source and method triangulations. The data analysis used was an interactive technique of analysis. The research was conducted in two cycles, each of which consisted of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting activities. The result of research showed that the application of field trip method in descriptive writing learning could improve the students’ learning interest from 53% in cycle I to 73% in cycle II. In addition, the students’ activeness during learning also improved to 53% in cycle I to 87% in cycle II. Similarly, the learning achievement of students also improved in which 60% students achieved KKM with mean value of 65.8 in cycle I that increased to 87% students achieved KKM with mean value of 75.25. The conclusion of research was that the application of field trip method in descriptive writing learning could improve the quality of process and learning achievement of the V graders of SDN II Geneng. It could be indicated by the increased interest, activeness and learning achievement level among the students from cycle I to cycle II.
