FACTORS AFFECTING THE STUDENTS’ DECISION IN CHOOSING ( The Effect of Individual Consumer, External Enviromental and Communication Sratetegy Factors to Decision in Choosing Office Administration Education Special Skill of FKIP UNS). Thesis, Surakarta: Social and Political Sciences Faculty, Sebelas Maret University, July 2008. This research aims to (1) examine the effect of individual consumer factor on the students’ decision in choosing Office Administration Education special skill (BKK) of Economy Education Study Program of FKIP UNS, (2) to find out the effect of external environmental factor on students’ decision in choosing Office Administration Education special skill of Economy Education Study Program of FKIP UNS, (3) to find out the effect of communication strategy factor on students’ decision in choosing Office Administration Education special skill of Economy Education Study Program of FKIP UNS, and (4) to find out the effect of individual consumer, external environmental and communication strategy factors simultaneously on students’ decision in choosing Office Administration Education special skill of Economy Education Study Program of FKIP UNS. This research took a theme of a study on the consumers’ behaviour in this case the students’ behaviour as the consumer who deciding to choose the Office Administration Education special skill of Economy Education Study Program of FKIP UNS with the Henry Assael’s consumers’ behaviour theory as the primary theory. This research is categorized into explanatory research with quantitative approach. The population of research were all semester IV and semester VI students of BKK Office Administration Education. In this research entire population were taken as the sample (census). The data source derived from the primary data namely the questionnaire completed by the respondent and the secondary one namely the document relating to the research object. Technique of collecting data was done using questionnaire, interview and observation. The hypothesis testing was done using regression analysis. Based on the result of research, it can be concluded as follows: 1) individual internal factor variables including motivation and need, perception and attitude affect positively, significantly the students’ decision in choosing Office Administration Education special skill of FKIP because tstatistic > ttable 2.719 > 1.99 or significance value < a that is 0.008 < 0.05; 2) external environment factor variable including family and reference group affects positively the students’ decision in choosing Office Administration Education special skill of FKIP because tstatistic > ttable 5.290 > 1.99 or significance value < a that is 0.000 < 0.05; 3) communication strategy factor variable including lecture, photograph exhibition and display affects positively the students’ decision in choosing Office Administration Education special skill of FKIP because tstatistic > ttable 3.800 > 1.99 or significance value < a that is 0.000 < 0.05; 4) individual internal variable, external environment and communication strategy affects positively and 23 simultaneously the students’ decision in choosing Office Administration Education special skill of FKIP because fstatistic > ftable 86.935 > 2.70 or significance value < a that is 0.000 < 0.05. Of the three variables, the one having the strongest influence is external environment factor.
